Updates to Extension Requests

1. How do I request an extension of a deadline for the filing of pleadings, submissions or other documents?

You may request an extension for the filing of a pleading, submission, or other document by filing a Request for an Order During Proceedings (Form 10), copied to the other parties. Please ensure you include all relevant information in your request.

The HRTO will not grant extension requests received less than seven days before the deadline unless there are exceptional circumstances.

2. How do I respond to a request for an extension?

You may respond to an extension request by filing a Response to a Request for an Order (Form 11), copied to the other parties.

3. How long will I have to respond to a request for an extension?

You must respond within seven days of receiving the extension request.
