Accessibility and Accommodations

Making a Request for Accommodation

The OSET wants to ensure that everyone is able to participate in its proceedings on an equal basis. It will provide accommodation (alternate arrangements) of Human Rights Code related needs as outlined in the SJTO Accessibility and Accommodation Policy.

If you require accommodation, note it on your appeal form or inform the OSET as soon as possible after filing your appeal. Advance notice will give us time to make the arrangements before your hearing.

Accessibility at the OSET

Information and publications

All the OSET informational materials, forms and notices to the public are available on this website. You can request OSET documents in print and in alternate formats like large print or Braille.

Interpretation

The OSET can provide interpreters, visual interpretation services, such as American Sign Language (ASL) and langue des signes québécoise (LSQ), real time captioning, and audio recordings of its hearings.

Support services

The OSET will work with you to accommodate any personal support services you use to help with communication, mobility, personal care or medical needs. Please note that the OSET cannot arrange these services for you. If you require a service animal or assistive device to participate in the hearing contact the OSET in advance of your hearing.

Unavailable accommodations

Where an accessibility or accommodation measure becomes unavailable, the OSET will let the parties know as soon as possible and arrange to reschedule or relocate the proceeding so that it is accessible.
