This Information Sheet provides information about how the August 21, 2023 Licence Appeal Tribunal Rules ("Rules") apply to applications. The application rules fall into two general categories:

Category 1 – Updated and New Rules that apply as of August 21, 2023

In the first category, the revised Rules apply as follows:

  1. The updated Rule 3 (General) and the new Rule 24 (Representation) apply to all appeals as of August 21, 2023.
  2. The updated Rule 8 (Summons) applies to any request for summons filed with the Tribunal on or after August 21, 2023. The updated Rule 8 also applies to any request for summons issued on the Tribunal's own initiative on or after August 21, 2023.
  3. The updated Rule 15 (Motions) applies to any motion filed with the Tribunal on or after August 21, 2023.
  4. The updated Rule 16 (Adjournments) applies to any adjournment request filed or made orally with the Tribunal on or after August 21, 2023.
  5. The updated Rule 18 (Reconsiderations) applies to any decision or order issued by the Tribunal on or after August 21, 2023.
  6. The updated Rule 23 (Highway Traffic Act Appeals) applies to all appeals under the Highway Traffic Act as of August 21, 2023.
